Starting in October of this year, Osaka Metropolitan University Hospital will launch the new advanced clinical training program of foreign medical practitioners. On behalf of the committee, it is my great pleasure to extend a warm invitation to physicians around the world who are eager to learn from Japanese medical practice with sincerity and passion.
Our hospital, located in the center of Osaka, serves as a leading medical center providing advanced and specialized care. Guided by the three inseparable missions of education, research, and clinical service, we strive to deliver patient-centered medicine every day. We believe that the essence of medicine—Wisdom, Humanity, and Courage—is universal, transcending national and cultural boundaries. These principles are in accord with the founding princeples of the School of Medicine of Osaka Metropolitan University: “Wisdom, Humanity, and Courage” the three Confucian virtues of CHI-Jin-Yu.
This program offers training opportunities in a broad range of disciplines. It covers seven surgical departments—Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Urology(Kidney Transplantation), Gastroenterological Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery—as well as thirteen medical departments—General Medicine, Gastroenterology, Respiratory Medicine, Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology, Diabetes Center, Nephrology, Bone / Endocrinology, Internal Medicine; Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Diseases, Dermatology, Anesthesiology & Pain Clinic, Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Neurology. Training periods are highly flexible, ranging from as short as one month to as long as two years, depending on individual goals and career development.
The purpose of this program extends beyond the acquisition of clinical skills. It is designed to provide deep exposure to Japan’s healthcare system, the culture of multidisciplinary teamwork, and the patient-centered values that form the foundation of our medical practice. We hope that participants will not only gain knowledge here, but also bring back experiences and perspectives that will contribute to the advancement of healthcare in their own countries. At the same time, our hospital will be enriched by the diverse insights and experiences that each participant shares.
We welcome applications from all physicians who are sincerely motivated to learn, regardless of nationality, culture, or faith. By training together, we can build friendships, academic networks, and collaborations that will last a lifetime. Medicine knows no borders, and through this program, we aim to walk together toward a future where patients everywhere can receive better care.
Osaka Metropolitan University Hospital is fully committed to supporting your journey. We invite you to take this courageous step and open the door to a new stage of growth and collaboration. We look forward to welcoming dedicated physicians from across the globe.
